Decor - Choosing the right type of lighting is also part of the landscaping process. It can somehow help you showcase some select pieces of your garden design. These select pieces are called centerpieces which include unique, individual trees or adding amazing water features like a waterfall or a pond. For you to make a unique style and appearance, consider some colorful lighting that can dim your surrounding.
The good news is that technology today is so sophisticated that many of these lighting types are stimulated with motion sensors. Thus, it makes the lamps energy efficient and inexpensive. The sensors allow the lights to be powered on at dusk and off at dawn. Wireless devices are also available wherein the power source can be mounted even without having a nearby electrical outlet or underground wiring.
Because illuminance changes as a function of distance, lighting an object located at a shorter distance, such as a kitchen counter, is much easier than lighting an object located far away, such as a box placed on a warehouse floor. Whereas the kitchen counter may easily achieve an illuminance of 600 lux from a single fluorescent fixture of 12,000 lumens, achieving the same value for the warehouse floor box will require either additional lights or a light containing a higher lumen value.
For the kitchen, recessed incandescent downlights should be placed approximately 6' to 8' apart. Fluorescent recessed fixtures are a good alternative choice, as they last ten times longer and deliver three to four times more light per watt than incandescent lighting. Plus, recessed fixtures can be hidden in niches or placed to shine through glass shelves for a unique, backlight display.
