There is a large selection of 24 volt outdoor lighting fixture designs to choose from. Their shape not only effects the way they look, but also effects way the fixture disperses light. These differences in fixture design play a huge roll in the way your property will look at night. An experienced outdoor lighting designer and installer will be able to make suggestions that will be critical in achieving the look and feel you desire.
Fiberoptic pool lights are also available to light your pool or spa. These units have a small wall fitting (usually about 2" round), which have the fiberoptic cable attached. Most pools will require multiple light fittings to illuminate the water. The fiberoptic cable is run back to a light generating box which is placed away from the pool or spa. The light in the box sends a beam of light through the fiberoptic to the end of the strands located inside the pool or spa. One fiberoptic light box will typically operate many wall fittings, but, this will depend on the total amount of fiberoptic strands the box will operate.
LED lighting has also gained popularity in the public sector. Northamptonshire County Council is currently working in partnership with Balfour Beatty on an initiative to replace 65,000 older low-pressure sodium, or SOX, lamps with LEDs over the next five years. There are also initiatives to encourage schools and hospitals to invest in LED lighting.
